California
We recommend enrolling at least 2 weeks before the due date your California court gave you. The 8-hour course can be completed at your own pace, but after you pass, your completion has to be processed and reported electronically so the court can confirm it before your deadline. Leaving extra time also protects you from unexpected delays such as technical issues or needing to retake the final exam. If you miss your due date, only the court can grant an extension, so check your court notice for the exact date and contact the court directly with any questions.
Most drivers who receive a one-point moving violation can ask the court for permission to attend traffic school, as long as they haven't attended for a violation that occurred within the last 18 months. Your court makes the final decision, so check your courtesy notice or contact the court before you enroll.
Yes. This is a DMV-licensed California traffic violator school course accepted by California courts. Our license number appears on your completion certificate.
Your citation (ticket) number, the court that handles your ticket, your California driver's license number, and your date of birth. Have your courtesy notice handy so the information matches the court's records exactly.
Yes. Traffic school does not replace your court fees. You must pay the court its fine and traffic school fee directly, in addition to the cost of this course.
Yes. The full course, including the chapter quizzes and the final exam, is available in Spanish.
No. The course is 100% online and works on your phone, tablet, or computer. You can log out anytime and pick up right where you left off.
After you complete all chapters, you take a multiple-choice final exam. You need a score of at least 70% to pass. If you don't pass, you can retake it within the number of attempts shown in your course.
California requires traffic schools to verify that the person enrolled is the person taking the course. You'll be asked a few identity questions from the information you entered at registration, so answer them exactly as you registered.
When you pass, we report your completion to the court electronically, as California requires. You don't need to mail anything to the court. You can also download a copy of your certificate for your records.
Your court sets the deadline, and it's printed on your courtesy notice. Finish the course before that date. We recommend finishing at least a few days early so the court receives your completion in time.
When you complete traffic school by the court's deadline, the violation is kept confidential and the point is not added to your driving record, which can help keep your insurance rates from going up.
Certificates & Submission
Many courts require the student to submit the certificate. Please reference your state specific guidelines.
Ticket dismissal: Submit your certificate (and any required documents like a driving record) to the court by the deadline. Insurance: Submit your certificate to your insurance company.
After you finish the course and pass requirements, you’ll receive a completion certificate based on the delivery method offered for your state/course (often electronic, sometimes mail).
Course Format & Timing
In most cases, the court cares about the certificate being submitted by the deadline. If you’re close to your deadline, contact your court to ask about an extension.
Contact your court clerk. Many courts may allow a one-time extension, but rules vary.
Possibly, but you should contact your court immediately. Courts control extensions and deadlines.
No. State-approved courses generally require you to complete the required instruction before moving forward.
It depends on the state and course type. Many states require a minimum number of instructional hours. The course is self-paced, but you must meet any court deadline.
Eligibility & Frequency
Rules vary by state and sometimes by county/court. If you’re unsure, ask your court or check your state’s rules.
Often, traffic school affects how the court processes the ticket (dismissal/withholding points), but it does not always erase the violation from all records. Confirm with your court/DMV.
General
You must confirm your court or agency accepts online courses before enrolling. If you’re unsure, contact your court clerk.
We recommend enrolling at least 2 weeks before your court due date. You can complete the course at your own pace, but your deadline also needs to cover the steps after you finish: processing your completion, reporting it to the court, and any unexpected delays such as a busy work week, technical issues, or needing to retake the final exam. Waiting until the last few days puts you at risk of missing your deadline, and only the court can grant an extension. Check your court notice for your exact due date, and contact the court directly if you have questions about it.
Typically, you’ll need your driver’s license number and your ticket/citation or court case number (or a court letter). Some states/courts may require additional information.
